DESCRIPTION: The origin of the Château de Meursault dates back to the eleventh century. In 1666 it became the property of Pierre de Blancheton, a lawyer in the Parliament of Bourgone, and remained there until the Revolution. At the beginning of the 19th century the property was enlarged, largely under the impulse of the Serre family, which carried out important architectural modifications and considerably developed the vineyards. In 1973 André Boisseaux, founder of the Kriter Group, bought the castle and restored it. Today, Château de Meursault is one of the most beautiful viticultural domaines of Bourgogne. The basis of production is the territory: the territory is the foundation of the expression of every wine. The vineyards, located in an ideal position, have a soil rich in limestone, on a well-drained subsoil, which gives the territory all its wealth. The soil is also well diversified and each climate develops its own characteristics. There are three types of soil, calcareous hard, calcareous in marl and limestone alluvionale.The vinification takes place in the modern winery, built in 1980, and equipped with the most modern equipment. The refinement of wines seeks first of all to underline the qualities of each wine, respecting the expression of the territories. Some white wines, such as the Château de Meursault and the Meursault 1er Cru age partly in new casks and partly in barrels of a passage. The average duration of refinement is from 12 to 18 months depending on the appellation. All wines are bottled in the cellar and the bottles remain at least one year in the cellar before being labeled and offered for sale.
