Hampden Great House 2023 + Pagos 2023

DESCRIPTION: The Distillery Edition, here in the 2023 version, is a blend of the most representative brands of the unique style of rums from Hampden Estate, a historic Jamaican distillery active since 1753. Here a unique rum is produced, characterized by spring water, prolonged fermentations and wild yeasts , distillations in copper double retort pot stills, tropical aging in ex-bourbon barrels and no addition of sugar or additives. Located in the Trelawny province, in the grand cru of Jamaican rum, and managed since 2009 by the Hussey family, Hampden Estate is known for having the best plots of land in the country, with one of the highest yields per hectare.

This second release from Hampden Pagos was entirely aged in 80 ex-Sherry barrels sourced from Bodegas Fundador and purchased specifically after being selected by Luca Gargano. The rum is made from a blend of 14 barrels of HLCF 2021, aged in barrels in June 2022. Hampden Pagos is the first ever experiment in aging Hampden rum in ex-Sherry barrels, and the name Pagos derives from the definition of plots and terroir in the Sherry tradition.
