6 Chardonnay 2024 - Western Cape

DESCRIPTION: An elegant and minerally Chardonnay, born between the breezes of the Atlantic Ocean and the slopes of Chapman's Peak Mountain. Cape Point Vineyards creates a white wine with great personality, featuring complex aromas and a full, fresh, and persistent palate. Excellent for drinking now, it can also evolve for 2–5 years. The grapes come from south-facing vineyards located in several select areas of the Western Cape, South Africa. The vineyards enjoy a cool, breezy climate thanks to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean (just 2 km away), which ensures slow and even ripening. The ancient, mineral-rich soils contribute to the wine's aromatic finesse and pronounced minerality. After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed to extract only the free-run juice. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to highlight the grape variety's primary aromas. Part of the wine ages in French oak barrels, which impart spicy notes and structure without overshadowing the varietal freshness. The wine is aged on the lees to enhance complexity and roundness on the palate. Bright straw yellow with golden highlights, the nose offers aromas of fresh citrus, ripe apricot, honey, and rolled oats, followed by notes of marine minerality and spicy oak that are well-integrated with the fruit. The full, creamy structure is supported by a lively acidity that adds freshness. The finish is long with fruity and mineral overtones.
